Following the Walt Disney Company's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, it was confirmed at the 2019 CinemaCon that future Alien films were in development. In March 2022, Fede Álvarez was announced as the writer and director of the first post-acquisition film, which was described as "unconnected" to the previous entries in the franchise. Initially planned for release on Hulu in the United States, the film gained momentum with Cailee Spaeny entering negotiations to star by November 2022.

In March 2023, Isabela Merced joined the cast in a then-undisclosed role, alongside David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu, who also signed on later that month. By November 2023, it was revealed that the film would be set between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), with some of the technical crew members from the latter film returning to contribute, as well as visual effects from Image Engine, who previously worked on Alien: Ore (2019). اعلان فيلم
